Vegas Residency BSB VIP Experience — Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life at The Axis, Las Vegas

My name is Andie Comala and at age 27 I had not been to a BSB concert. That all changed in April 2017 thanks to Backstreet Boy’s Las Vegas Residency– The BSB VIP: Larger Than Life ❤

Let’s rewind to last year 2016 when they announced their short term residency in Las Vegas.

When I first heard the news I was so excited I knew this was going to be the year I got to see BSB in VIP– who am I kidding, the first time ever! I wanted to go with my sisters and make it a bonding trip. Unfortunately, my eldest sister’s schedule was crazy and couldn’t join so it was my middle sister and I on this BSB VIP bonding adventure. Once the BSB pre-sale Citi Card member tickets went live (Shoutout to CitiCard— You da best!) we checked out the dates, prices and decided on the soonest VIP available. They also offered VIP Meet & Greet but we decided to pass on that.. for now😏 Ticket prices were average at around 300-ish for VIP I did see prices increase and the resell cost was ridiculous once the show had launched!

UPDATE: BSB extended their Vegas residency with an additional 16 dates. Tickets on sale on Ticketmaster

Come concert day on April 19, we flew out of the Long Beach airport into sunny Las Vegas, NV.

We first started our day with a little shopping, per usual. My sister needed an outfit and I never turn down a chance to browse the stores. We then headed to the Linq for a late lunch at Hash House. Ohemmgeee, caution. Their portions are huge and unbelievable! So head there with a large appetite, a few friends and good vibes. You may even still end up with leftovers, late night munchies amirite?😜 After lunch we hit up the local Walgreen’s for some light snacks and adult beverages for a fun pre-game back in our room😉  My sister was and still is pregnant (she’s due in early Oct) so all the drinking was being left to me #ChallengeAccepted

After spending considerable time on makeup and dress options, it was time for the BSB show!

We then ubered out of our hotel and headed to Planet Hollywood. There was a huge GA line outside of The Axis it almost resembled a massive festival exit. We looked for the BSB VIP line and spent no more than 5 minutes checking in and receiving our wrist bands. Once inside, we walked through the merch stands and agreed we would come back after the show to purchase a shirt my our sister. Show time was in 25 minutes so that meant we had enough time to buy drinks and find our seats. My sister opted for a virgin margarita mix that came in this awesome blue BSB cup, I had a double shot of Johnnie Walker Black. We then proceeded inside where we were greeted with our own personal host who directed us to our seats. At this point we were 5 minutes shy from show time with just enough time for a couple of selfies and backdrop pictures. Unfortunately, the lighting is not the greatest towards the front of the stage 🙈

The lights dimmed, the blue BSB curtains pulled back and it was show time!

Five large LED screens appeared in the air, each one with their respective member. They slowly lowered and simultaneously turned facing the audience increasing our anticipation for the show. There was a bright flash and then the melody for Larger Than Life began! It was the start of the show and my mini heart attack. I am not ashamed to say it, you just cannot hold it against me 😂

The entire Larger Than Life show was super high energy and filled with classic and new choreography. They played all the hits imaginable, 20 hits to be exact with a few suprises here and there. The boys, I mean ahem.. men interacted with the audience through out the entire show and this particular one happened to be the day before their 24th anniversary and AJ Mclean made a short speech before continuing on with the show.

One of my favorite parts in the show is when BSB goes out to the audience in Rear Orchestra during All I Have To Give to sing and dance for the audience and then make their way back to the stage.

Nick has a hook before he reaches the stage and during this part he got on top of the ledge that was behind our seats and I nearly lost it!!!

I fangirled sooo hard, yelled and waved my hand like the true fangirl I am when your teen crush is right in front of you LOL. He proceeded to jump off the ledge and swooned the girl right next to me by caressing her face and singing to her. I NEARLY DIED!!!! That could’ve been me!!! 😭💔 He looked me in the eyes.. That’s all I gotta say. I low key regret not pushing her aside hahaha. Just kidding I could never… 😈

And just like that, they were gone. I knew they had to come back for one more song so we waited for their famous encore!

Everyone stood their ground and waited patiently. Then we heard it, *tunn..bum bum… tun tun!…* That’s me trying to imitate the melody for Everybody (Backstreet’s Back). I can honestly say everything from the singing, dancing, production and overall experience of the BSB VIP: Larger Than Life Las Vegas residency, was simply amazing! I knew BSB always puts amazing shows but seeing it live took everything to the next level. The nostalgia was too real and I am so happy I got to experience my first BSB VIP. Congratulations to AJ, Brian, Kevin, Nick and Howie on such a successful Las Vegas Show!
