Vegan Places in Orange County

Restaurant with Vegan options in The OC

Happy World Vegan Day.

As I been spending more and more time in Orange County and decided to provide an updated list of my  favorite vegan places in Orange County.

1. Seabirds Kitchen – Costa Mesa

This is at the top of my list because it is our go-to brunch place in Orange County; the Birdymary’s are a must (michelada’s are really good too)! Seabird’s is a completely vegan restaurant with a location in Costa Mesa and another  in Long Beach. Their brunch/lunch menu is not too extensive but it sure is delicious. My favorite dish has to be their Chipotle Florentine because the sauce they use is amazing! They also have very good belgian style waffles. If you find yourself in the area wanting a really good bloody mary and are feeling adventurous about vegan places in Orange County, this is my recommendation to you.

2. The Secret Spot – Huntington Beach

Best vegan tacos ever (in the OC). Located in Huntington Beach, The Secret Spot is s small location with the best vegan meat and dairy free options. It is located near the beach so its the perfect spot to grab some tacos or a burrito and then head down to the beach for an exciting afternoon. The thing I really enjoyed about The Secret Spot is they use a hand made tortillas and homemade meats making their tacos/burritos one of the best vegan places in Orange County (still searching for more).

3. Umami Burger — Anaheim

Okay so this place is not completely vegan. In fact they only have 1 vegan item, but let me tell you it is the BEST damn vegan burger I have ever had. I am now talking about The Impossible burger Umami version The Truffle Maker in the Anaheim (also available in the Arts District DTLA) location. If you have been curious about trying this meat substitute or even if this is the first time you’ve heard of such a thing, do yourself a favorite and try it! The best damn meat-less burger I have tried and the best Impossible burger version I have had. Maybe I should go make a seperate post on Impossible and Beyond meat burgers/foods 🤔 Just go. Trust me.

4. Cafe Gratitude – Newport Beach

I have mentioned Cafe Gratitude in previous posts before and I have to mention it again because they have a location in Newport Beach. Cafe Gratitude has an organic and all plant-based menu with several different food styles, drinks and health shots. Not to mention, I find their positivity and gratitude theme to be so darn cute even their menu items are positive words. Definitely a health conscious restaurant that aims to serve good and healthy food and promote wellness. I’ve brought many friends to dine at Cafe Gratitude and they all say it’s the best vegan dish they’ve had.

 5. Green Tomato Grill  – Brea

Located in Brea, Green Tomato Grill has sooo many good healthy options such as gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes.  I opted to try their Vegan Char Burger with vegan cheese and mayo. Their patty and bun is made in-house and honestly was so delicious, crunchy and flavorful. I know I have raved about The Impossible burger, well this isn’t that type of vegan patty. It’s not supposed to mimic meat but it definitely is one of the better vegan patties I’ve had outside of The Impossible and Beyond burger patties. Next time you are in Brea or are searching for vegan places in Orange County with healthier options, give Green Tomato Grill a try.

If you find yourself eating at one of these places give me a tag on IG or send me a snap! I want to hear your thoughts on the food and experience.

XO Andie

Ohhh no. That must be very tough for vegan eaters. I suppose cooking is probably the best thing for them. I hope you get to visit one day and try all the amazing food here.

My daughter is a new vegetarian and I am learning how hard it can be to find good vegan/vegeterian food. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Paige! It gets easier so keep working at it. It is hard to come by health and good tasting vegetarian food. My sister has been vegetarian for about 8 years so I know the struggle. Most dishes are plain and carb heavy. I hope my list can help provide a bit more option. If your’re interested, I also have a list for vegan friendly restaurants in LA <3

The plates look so good and yummy. I’m not a vegan but some friends are and they have commented that sometimes it is very difficult to find a vegan place to eat.

    • November 3, 2018 / 12:27 PM

Oh so true! It can be very difficult at times since not many places cater to vegans. But I hope my list can help provide some options to your friends šŸ™‚

I hope you get to visit California one day! Vegan food is definitely underrated. I haven’t been to New York as a vegan just yet so I wonder about their options. Hopefully they have some options that are just are great as my list.
