UPDATE: March 8, 2019
After this first initial shipment, I (and a thousands of other backers) have not received any updates from GlamourDolls for their Kickstarter campaign. Last update received by them was on September 21, 2018. I have since found out GlamourDolls have complaints against them in BBB and have read online they are being investigated by federal authorities.
I am highly disappointed in this collaboration and feel taken advantage by GlamourDolls. I know there are thousands of other backers who feel the same way. I did not invest a lot of money (about $50 dollars) but I do hope everyone gets their money back and GlamourDolls makes things right.
If you are reading this and have any information on GlamourDolls Kickstarter, please comment or reach out to me. I would like to stay in updated.
Lisa Frank Makeup
Oh the nostalgia, Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls Collab Makeup. YES it came true ladies and gents! If I am not mistaken, all 90’s and even some 80’s babies had Lisa Frank school supplies. Everything from pencils, folders, erasers, trapper keepers and stickers. You name it and it most likely came Lisa Frank style and it definitely was in my Lisa Frank Backpack . So you can imagine my excitement once I heard Lisa Frank wanted to create a makeup collab via Kickstarter with Glamour Dolls — the V affordable cruelty and vegan makeup brand. I jumped at the opportunity quicker than a college student waking up late for finals. Btw, that actually happened to me once
Lisa Frank x Kickstarter Campaign
The original Kickstarter campaign for the Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls collab began in early with several pledge categories ranging from $5 – $45 dollars. As word spread about the Lisa Frank makeup collab, the campaign quickly received more backers and with that came additional pledges ranging from $5 – $200 dollars. Every pledge member received confirmation emails and updates throughout the process of creating and developing the makeup line. Glamour Dolls made it clear they did not expect this much overwhelming support from Lisa Frank fans! Yay us!! As a result, they were able to raise $370,000 from almost 6,000 backers! They added additional items such as nail polishes, nail files and a mystery eye-shadow palette! The only problem with a large support of backer is producing and developing a larger quantity of makeup
The First Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls Collab Item Arrives: Travel Bronzer !
One Thursday afternoon I received an email from USPS stating a package had been sent to me. I quickly clicked on the link and realized that my Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls collab makeup was on its way! It arrived in a bright pink padded envelop with a matching highlighter pink bow Seeing the postcard that arrived with my matte bronzer took me back to when I was 8 years old and I wanted every single Lisa Frank pocket folder.
What pledge did I choose?
Early on, the Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls collab did not have many choices so I decided on the second highest pledge at the time. I wanted all the makeup they had to offer minus the vegan makeup bag which was in the highest pledge (early in the campaign). In addition, shortly after the campaign concluded, all backers were given the option to add-on additional items not included in their original pledge. Here is the initial pledge I got and the add-ons I chose:
You Will Shine: $25 Reward Pledge
- Digital Background
- Lip Balm
- Matte Mousse
- Liquid Eyeliner
- Unicorn Lippie
- Highlighter
Add-ons
- Travel Bronzer — Bitten & Bronzed $5 (Available on their site right now!)
- Naturally Glam Eyeshadow Palette — $5
Lisa Frank Makeup items available for purchase
In addition to these items, Lisa Frank also created Lisa Frank Eyeshadow: Picnic Peachy Pink $6.99, Lisa Frank Blending Brush $4.99, Lisa Frank Angled Blush Brush: $4.99. Items which were in production right before the Kickstarter began and are currently available on the Glamour Doll website right now!
Glamour Dolls is vegan. Is the Lisa Frank makeup too?
Yes and yes. Lisa Frank makeup is produced by Glamour Dolls and it maintains and upholds their core values, cruelty-free and vegan makeup and brushes at a low cost. The color for the Lisa Frank Glamour Dolls collab Matte Bronzer I received is a warm tawny color.
